Gentle Humor: Frank and Ernest

One of the beauties of ripening like a fine wine – also known as aging – is the growing appreciation of gentle intelligence.  We have spoken a bit about religion and Christianity lately, but I think it is in the small everyday things that we find peace accomplished, not just in the sanctuary.

Gentle humor isn’t a bad place to start.  Some think that humor must be cutting to be intelligent.  They would miss the intelligence of a Johnny Carson.  And … they would miss the quiet gentle humor of a Thaves.

Alas Conrad – a wise old sage (although he was young at the time) posed the question. Why is there air?

Indeed – where would we be without humor. Only a fool takes himself too seriously. Good humor is a good place to start, good for a break in the middle and hopefully still around at the end. I couldn’t agree more.

  2. I doubt if I would have survived for 62 years without humour, it has helped me through many dark moments.

I know some people that do not appreciate any type of humor and I really feel sorry for them I feel sorry for those that really like mean humor too. On days that I don’t laugh much I don’t feel very good.

    Conrad:

A man whose reputation is expanding faster than the universe.

    Conrad:

A man so cool he lives vicariously through himself!

Shackman, I love jokes! I love comics! And, most of all, I love being around people who are funny, that have quick wits!

Grannymar, a friend who knows how to bring humor so often helps more than a friend who brings sympathy – at least that is my experience.

Yep, Ma, laughter really is the best medicine. Wine is pretty good, too!

Don, that’s my ego you see expanding! A legend in my own mind.

  10. You had me at the well-crafted cartoon — mention of fine wine and gentle intelligence, well that’s a discourse that doesn’t come along every day. I agree with your perspective on gentle humor. It’s easier to throw rocks than elevate to a more satisfying level of funny. That said, I’m off to Google Thaves.

Rick, it’s a delight to have you aboard. I think you’ll find a lot of people with gentle humor conversing here.
